Description
Hermitage of Força Real
Força Real means a rocky peak overlooking the whole Roussillon. From its 507m altitude, the view extends from Cape Port-Vendres to Leucate, with a panorama stretching from the valley of Agly to that of Tet. It is on this strategic location serving as landmarks for sailors that the Counts of Roussillon built a signal tower, in connection with that of Tautavel.
Its story begins on April 19, 1693 and continues today. The feasts of the Virgin give place to ceremonies on August 14 evening (Marian vigil and torchlight descent), September 8 (the Virgin is celebrated in the 3 parishes) and every Friday holy.
