Description
Banteay Srei Temple, Anthropomorphic Monkey Statues, Cambodia
Anthropomorphic monkey statues guard doorways at Banteay Srei Temple in Siem Reap Province in Cambodia. The temple, which was originally built as a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva, is unusual for having been built in a reduced scale in red limestone. It is also the only temple in the Angkor region that was not built by a king.
